safety awareness

On average, medical costs for babies born before 37 weeks gestation are nearly $50,000 - 12 times more than that of a full-term baby. Babies born too early and too small are at risk for physical, developmental, cognitive, and social-emotional complications for the rest of their lives.

Local preterm birth prevention resources are available to you!

This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. The best place to get that education is in school. Every Day. On Time. December is also Safe Toys and Gifts Month; review the information and guidelines at the page below when choosing safe toys for all ages.

Good attendance matters and how to choose safe toys and gifts!
Reiterating our messaging from August and September, we are raising awareness on the importance of good attendance! Also during the winter season, we encourage parents/guardians to choose safe and developmentally appropriate toys/gifts!

All of us at the Coalition hope you and your families are doing well as we prepare for the upcoming winter holidays. We wanted to provide you with some information and resources to assist you in your preparations.

Reminder of Child Care Provider Changes and Transfers Process!
  • Contact our Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) team at 561-514-3300 for a listing of Winter Break Camps near you.
  • If you have already arranged care for Winter Break, verify the start dates and times for the camp.
  • If your child will be attending a different camp for Winter Break, please contact us to request a transfer or to suspend care. Your request should be submitted at least 7-10 business days prior to the first day of camp. Forms are available here.

Attendance leading up to or during the holiday season matters. A few missed days here and there, even if excused can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. If your child must be absent:
  • Contact your child's school regarding attendance and fee payment policies.
  • Notify your school or camp of upcoming leave dates.
  • Contact us to request a suspension of care if leave is expected for more than 10 days.
  • Gather work or assignments for the teacher that can be done over the break.
  • Review our December Awareness page for additional information on "The Gift of Attendance".
